Niall Treacy’s Milano Cortina 2026 campaign got underway in dramatic fashion on Tuesday, with the Team GB short track speed skater showing exactly why he’s regarded as one of Britain’s leading names on the international circuit in the men’s 1000m.

Day 4 is all about speed, tactics, and split-second decisions  as short track speed skating  arrives at the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games - and Niall Treacy  is first up for British Ice Skating in his men’s 1000m heats . It’s also a big moment for the programme: this is the first short track event involving British Ice Skating at these Games , with Treacy flying the flag as Team GB’s sole short track representative  in Milan. It was a big day for British Ice Skating at the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games, with standout performances in the Ice Dance Rhythm Dance with Fear and Gibson firmly in the medal fight and a superb skate from Ellia Smeding in the Women’s 1000m long track speed skating - in a session where the Olympic record was broken twice.
