Team GB Names Eight Figure Skaters for Milano Cortina 2026 in Biggest Squad Since 1988

With less than two months to go until the Opening Ceremony of the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games, the British Olympic Association (BOA) has today confirmed the eight figure skaters who will represent Team GB in Italy.

This selection marks a significant milestone for British winter sport, as Team GB prepares to field its largest figure skating delegation since the Calgary 1988 Winter Olympics.

Fresh from claiming a historic eighth national title just last weekend, World Championship bronze medallists Lilah Fear and Lewis Gibson headline the squad. They are joined in the Ice Dance event by Phebe Bekker and James Hernandez, ensuring Great Britain fields two ice dance couples at a Games for the first time in over a decade.

In the Pairs event, European top-five finishers Anastasia Vaipan-Law and Luke Digby will make their Olympic debut, as well as Kristen Spours (Women’s Singles). Alongside their individual events, the team will also join forces to compete in the team event, where they are joined by Edward Appleby (Team Event - Men’s Singles).

For Fear and Gibson, Milano Cortina represents a different challenge to their debut in Beijing four years ago. Having ended a 40-year wait for a British World Championship medal in ice dance earlier this year, the duo head to Italy as established podium contenders.

Speaking on attending their second Games, Fear & Gibson said: "We’re so excited and honoured to be heading to our second Olympic Games. Competing in Beijing was a dream come true, and we can’t wait to share this experience with the family and friends who’ve supported us every step of the way. We’re also excited to learn from and connect with so many incredible athletes chasing their dreams, and to celebrate our British pride on the world stage with two very patriotic programs that we hope bring lots of joy and entertainment to everyone watching."

Making their debut in the Pairs discipline are Dundee-based Anastasia Vaipan-Law and Luke Digby. The pair secured their Olympic quota spot with a standout 2024/25 season, including the best finish by a British pair at the European Championships in over 30 years.

Law & Digby said:  “We are very honoured and grateful to have been selected. This is the result of a lifetime of dedication and devotion to achieving our dream of representing Great Britain at the Olympic Games. A massive thank you to our coaches, family, and close friends who have supported us from our first steps onto the ice all the way to this moment. We are beyond excited and proud to take another major step in our Olympic dream becoming a reality.”

“To be selected for the Olympic Games is more than an achievement, it’s a culmination of years of dedication, devotion, and love for our sport. We are incredibly proud to represent Great Britain on the world’s biggest stage and to honor everyone who helped shape our journey.”

Team GB Chef de Mission, Eve Muirhead, said: “It is fantastic to welcome eight such talented figure skaters to Team GB for Milano Cortina 2026. To select a squad of this size - our largest in nearly 40 years - is a testament to the incredible work being done in British Ice Skating.

“We have a brilliant mix of youth and experience here. Lilah and Lewis have proven they are among the best in the world, and their leadership will be invaluable to the six athletes making their Olympic debuts. I know exactly what it feels like to step onto that ice for the first time, and everyone at Team GB will be right behind them as they live out their Olympic dreams.”

British Ice Skating Performance Director, Jon Eley, said: “We are delighted to have the largest Team GB figure skating contingent since 1988 heading to Milan. This achievement is a testament to the exceptional performances and dedication shown by the entire squad throughout this cycle. We’re excited to see our athletes take to the biggest stage, showcase their potential, and seize the opportunity to pursue their Olympic dreams.”

On behalf of everyone at British Ice Skating, huge congratulations to our athletes, coaches and support staff on this remarkable milestone - we’re incredibly proud of what you’ve achieved to earn selection and can’t wait to support you all the way as you prepare to represent Team GB at Milano Cortina 2026.
