Buffey, Buffey and Trowbridge set for Junior World Cup debuts in Bormio

Savi Buffey, Cohen Buffey and Daniel Trowbridge will all make their ISU Junior World Cup debuts this month, racing at back-to-back events in Bormio, Italy.

The three short track skaters, Savi and Cohen from Nottingham and Daniel from Aldwych, compete at Junior World Cup 1 from 6th to 8th November. They then stay on in Bormio for Junior World Cup 2 at the same venue, the Palaghiaccio, from 12 to 14 November.

It is a first chance for all three to race against the best junior skaters in the world, and a big step on the pathway towards senior international racing.

About the Junior World Cup

The ISU Junior World Cup series was introduced in 2023/24 to help young skaters gain international experience and progress towards the senior ISU Short Track World Tour. Medals are awarded over 500m, 1000m and 1500m, alongside relay events.

The two Bormio events open the 2026/27 junior season. A third Junior World Cup follows in Astana, Kazakhstan, from 22 to 24 January 2027, ahead of the ISU Short Track Junior World Championships at the same venue from 28 to 31 January.

“It’s fantastic to see Savi, Cohen and Daniel earning the opportunity to represent Great Britain at Junior World Cup level. This is an exciting step in their development and a reward for the hard work they and their coaches have put in.

Competing against the best junior skaters in the world is an important part of their progression. We’re continuing to build a stronger pathway, and opportunities like these are vital in developing the next generation of athletes who can go on to compete at senior international level.”
