Today marks the start of the inaugural Robin Cousins Cup, and we are proud to share the below message from ISU President Jae Youl Kim marking this exciting occasion.

Dear Skating Friends,

On behalf of the International Skating Union, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to Sheffield for the Robin Cousins Cup 2025, held as part of British Ice Skating’s (BIS) Summer Celebration of Figure Skating.

This new event pays tribute to the remarkable career and enduring legacy of Robin Cousins MBE, whose Olympic triumph and lifelong dedication to figure skating have inspired countless athletes around the world. It is most fitting that his name now marks an international competition that offers today’s skaters the opportunity to showcase their talent, pursue their ambitions, and follow in the footsteps of one of our sport’s great champions.

The ISU is proud of this event, which not only celebrates our history but also creates new opportunities for the next generation. To all participating skaters, I wish you memorable performances and every success. To BIS and its President, Mr. Cousins, I extend heartfelt thanks for your vision and commitment in bringing this celebration to life.

May this inaugural edition of the Robin Cousins Cup be the beginning of a tradition that continues to inspire and unite our skating community for many years to come.
