PJ Hallam was the only British skater in action on the second day of the ISU World Figure Skating Championships as the men’s side of the competition got underway.
33 of the best male skaters from across the world took to the ice for six hours of scintillating performances. Some of the most recognisable faces in world skating wowed the few who could watch on in the arena with the legendary two-time Olympic and world champion Yuzuru Hanyu thrilling the crowd of athletes and coaches.
The first group was on the ice from 10:40 and PJ didn’t have long to wait as the third skater scheduled. His energetic routine was hard not to enjoy. Skating to Footloose, it brought widespread praise from fans watching on, who could be heard in the background on the landing of PJ’s cracking triple lutz triple toe combination. He ended with a score of 61.56 that was eventually good enough for 30th place.
The pairs World Champions were crowned late last night with Anastasia Mishina and Aleksandr Galliamov taking the crown on their debut World Championship performance. They beat China’s Wenjing Sui and Cong Han to the gold medal with a score of 151.80.
The British pair of Lilah and Lewis are in action on day three of the competition. They will be in the sixth group to go, on the ice from 13:56. Then just a few hours later at 17:15 Natasha McKay will be live on the BBC as she performs her free skate routine.
