What is Let’s Skate?
Let’s Skate’ is an exciting Sport England-funded project from British Ice Skating which delivers opportunities for disabled people to get involved in ice skating. This includes supporting rinks to deliver Let’s Skate inclusive skating sessions. Find out more about the project here.
What is a Let's Skate Activator?
Activators are the friendly faces who help make Let's Skate sessions welcoming, safe and enjoyable for everyone. They work alongside coaches and rink teams to support participants both on and off the ice, creating an environment where people can build confidence, develop skills and enjoy being active.
The role is flexible and can be tailored to suit your interests, experience, abilities and availability.
As an Activator, you could:
Support skaters on and off the ice
Help prepare equipment and session areas
Assist with session organisation and participant support
Build positive relationships with skaters, families and local partners
Capture photos, videos and stories to promote sessions
Help create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for all participants
No matter your background, every contribution helps make a difference!
Why Get Involved?
Volunteering through Let's Skate is about much more than giving your time. It's an opportunity to:

Join the Let's Skate Team
The Let's Skate Activator Scheme is open to people from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. If you're enthusiastic, positive and keen to help others succeed, we'd love to hear from you.
Register your interest in becoming a Let’s Skate Activator to receive more information about how you can get involved. For now, we are focusing on supporting the Let’s Skate sessions already being delivered in Slough, Bradford, Deeside, Nottingham, Grimsby, Oxford, Sheffield and Telford. If none of these locations are near you, you can still register your interest – there may still be ways you can support remotely, or we’ll get in touch when Let’s Skate reaches a rink near you!
NB: The Let’s Skate Activator scheme is open to all ages, but if you’re under 16 we’ll need a parent or guardian to complete this registration form instead:
By becoming an Activator, you'll not only support the next generation of skaters – you'll also begin your own journey of learning, development and achievement within the British Ice Skating community.
Join us and help make skating accessible, welcoming and inspiring for everyone!
