The Grand Prix Final is one of the most exclusive events in the sport, bringing together only the top six teams from the entire Grand Prix series. With no margin for error and a field packed with the world’s elite, simply reaching the Final represents a major achievement. To leave Japan with a medal once again underlines Fear and Gibson’s status as one of the leading teams in global ice dance.

Fear & Gibson Back-to-Back Grand Prix Final Medallists

This latest podium finish makes Fear and Gibson back-to-back Grand Prix Final medallists, following their groundbreaking bronze in 2024.

That medal was a true milestone for the sport in this country: the first ever Grand Prix Final medal won by a British team. Returning a year later and doing it again not only confirms their place among the world’s best, but also reinforces their growing legacy as modern trailblazers for British ice skating.

Two Standout Performances

Fear and Gibson opened their Grand Prix Final with a strong Rhythm Dance score of 82.55, putting them firmly in the mix after the first segment.

They then delivered an outstanding Free Dance, earning 126.26 - a season’s best - to secure their place on the podium.

Their combined total of 208.81 marks another high point in a season already filled with milestones, showcasing not only their technical progression, but also the confidence and competitive edge that comes with experience at the very top of the sport.

A Legacy of Records and Momentum

Fear and Gibson have continuously raised the bar for British ice dance in recent seasons, repeatedly rewriting national history on the international stage. Their success in Nagoya also arrives in the wake of another landmark achievement at home: earlier this season the duo won their eighth British senior ice dance title, making them the most decorated British ice dance team of all time.

Together, these accomplishments paint a clear picture of a team in exceptional form – resilient, ambitious, and consistently able to deliver when the stakes are highest.

Reflecting on their week in Nagoya, their back-to-back Grand Prix Final success and the excitement of heading to a home Europeans, Fear and Gibson said:

“We had the most amazing time here in Nagoya. It was a very transformative week, and we’re so proud of both performances. We always learn a lot every time we go out and compete. We feel really well set up for the rest of the season, and we’re so excited that we can finally say our next competition is the European Championships in Sheffield!
It’s something we’ve been looking forward to every step of the way, but now it’s next - and it’s just going to be a huge celebration. We’re so proud to represent Great Britain, and to do that in Great Britain will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. After these back-to-back Grand Prix Final medals, we’re excited to move forward with confidence - and a lot of dancing!”

Next Stop: A Historic Home Europeans

Fear and Gibson will now turn their attention to the next major moment of the season: the ISU Figure Skating European Championships 2026 in Sheffield, taking place from 13–18 January 2026.

With Europeans returning to the UK in what promises to be a landmark event for the sport, Fear and Gibson will arrive in Sheffield carrying huge momentum - and with every reason to believe they can continue their remarkable run of history-making performances.

Europeans 2026

With the momentum of back-to-back Grand Prix Final podiums carrying into Sheffield and beyond, Fear and Gibson will be aiming to keep building towards the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games - continuing their remarkable rise and showing the world that British ice dance belongs firmly in the sport’s very top tier.

British Ice Skating congratulates Lilah and Lewis and their coaching team on another exceptional achievement and looks forward to cheering them on as they continue to lead the way for British ice dance on the world stage.
