British Ice Skating partners with Planet Ice to Inspire To Skate ahead of the Winter Olympics 2026

£10 Learn to Skate taster sessions now available at 14 Planet Ice rinks nationwide, for a limited time

British Ice Skating is proud to announce a new partnership with Planet Ice to support Inspire to Skate - BIS’ Olympic campaign designed to help inspire the next generation and get more people stepping onto the ice for the very first time.

As the countdown to the Winter Olympics 2026 continues, BIS and Planet Ice are inviting new skaters of all ages to discover the sport through a special Learn to Skate taster session, led by Planet Ice’s experienced coaching team and available across all 14 Planet Ice rinks

Running for a limited period, the taster sessions are available at a special price of £10 and will run until 12 March

“Inspire To Skate is about turning Olympic moments into real-world action,” said Maggie Still, British Ice Skating CEO. “Whether you’ve watched figure skating, short track or long track speed skating and thought ‘I’d love to try that’ - this partnership with Planet Ice makes it easier than ever to take that first step. The most important part is simply getting on the ice and giving it a go, no matter your age or ability.”

Planet Ice is marking the offer as part of its 30th anniversary celebrations, and the programme reflects what makes skating so powerful: that first push off, the feeling of freedom on the ice, and the confidence that grows with every lap.

“Learning to skate is more than trying a new activity,” said Heath Rhodes, Chief Operations Officer, Planet Ice. “It builds confidence, coordination and resilience - and for some, it can be the start of a lifelong passion. We’re delighted to work with British Ice Skating to help more people experience that feeling, especially as excitement builds towards the Winter Olympics 2026.”

The partnership also highlights the pathway potential within the sport - with Planet Ice noting that many current and former Olympians began their journeys training at Planet Ice rinks.

No matter your age, ability level or experience with skating, in any format, this is your time to feel inspired!
