10-strong British team set for Budapest Trophy

A team of ten GB figure skaters are set to compete at the Budapest Trophy in Hungary over the next four days.


Freddie Leggott will be the first to feature as the Junior Men get the competition underway at 13:00 today (Thurs 14th). Leggott skated in his first Junior Grand Prix just three weeks ago, and travels to Hungary after winning a silver medal at the British Championships Qualifier 2.

Senior Men will follow from 14:05 with Graham Newberry first on the ice from the second group. He recently finished 14th at the Lombardia Trophy.


Ice Dance will close out the opening day, with two of the nine couples set to compete from Great Britain. Silver medallists at the British Championships Qualifier 1 Sasha Fear & George Waddell compete as well as bronze medallists from the same event and Eleanor Hirst and Anthony Currie.


Friday opens with the Men’s Free Skate before the Ice Dance Free Dance.


The Women and Pairs side of the competition will play out over Saturday and Sunday. It will be a busy two days for Elena Komova who will skate in both the Junior and Senior categories.


She will compete alongside fellow Junior Genevieve Somerville from 12:30. Nina Povey and Kristen Spours get underway in the Senior Women’s from 16:03.
