Job Purpose

British Ice Skating is looking for an event assistant to support the event team both throughout their events, and in the planning and conclusion of events. The post holder is responsible for supporting and helping grow the Events functions of the business, assisting with administrative needs where relevant, and leading on tasks and projects as appropriate.


Key Areas

  • Assisting the events team with a high number of events

  • Liaising with Events Team colleagues to assist in the scheduling and operations of the events

  • Preparing, checking and publishing content relating to the relevant areas

  • Assisting in the administration of processing applications, entries, music submission, programme content forms, practice ice, and merchandise where relevant

  • Work to ensure the smooth delivery of events under the direction of the Event Manager, as well as being a point of contact where and when required

  • Assisting with monitoring and counting stock levels of items sold through events

  • Undertake any other duties associated with the post as reasonably requested


Assignment of Work

Work is assigned by the Events and Workforce Manager and wider BIS Management team based on the needs and priorities of the Association. This work will be generated by BIS Employees, the Board, committees, as well as wider membership, contractors and stakeholders.

The post holder is subject to general direction and will discuss conflicting priorities with their Line Manager. Regular reviews of the quality and quantity of work, as well as priorities and timescales, will be held with the Line Manager, as well as formal appraisals in line with the BIS appraisal system.


Please note that the working hours and days will reflect the needs of the delivery of the Events and Development schedule and strategy.


Communications and Working Relationships

INTERNAL – to support the delivery of key activities and objectives within the BIS Team as set by the BIS CEO, wider Managerial Team, Board Chair and Directors, relevant sub-groups and committees

EXTERNAL – to use existing communication channels by e-mail, phone, letter and in person to assist in the administration and delivery of the programmes and services of BIS to the current and prospective Membership as a whole, including Skaters, Coaches, Judges, Officials and Volunteers, as well as partners such as Ice Rinks, Clubs, Local Authorities and other Suppliers or those for whom BIS forms part of the Supply Chain


Job Role Statement

The Events Assistant will be accountable for the work generated in these areas of the business throughout the UK; amongst Members, key Stakeholders and the General Public, as well as internal functions within BIS, to engage more people in Ice Skating as a whole. They must adopt a positive attitude in all their dealings and must adhere to, and comply with, all BIS policies and procedures.
