Skate Canada champions Fear & Gibson head to Cup of China
Fresh from their Skate Canada International title, Lilah Fear & Lewis Gibson are back on Grand Prix ice this weekend at the Cup of China in Shenzhen, their second assignment of the 2026/27 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating.
It is a quick turnaround. Less than a week after leading from start to finish in Kelowna, the pair travelled straight from Canada to China for the third of the six Grand Prix events, held at the Shenzhen Universiade Sports Centre Arena from 6 to 8 November. Shenzhen is hosting the Cup of China for the first time.
Riding the momentum
Lilah and Lewis arrive in Shenzhen in form. In Kelowna they set season's bests in the rhythm dance (81.37), the free dance (119.80) and in total (201.17) to win their first Skate Canada title, at the same rink where they won their first ever Grand Prix medal in 2019.
They will skate the same two programmes this weekend: a fiery flamenco rhythm dance to the Gipsy Kings, and a jazz-inspired Moulin Rouge free dance to Shirley Bassey's "Get The Party Started", with Lilah as a showgirl and Lewis as an emcee. After Kelowna, Lilah said the pair want to "ride the momentum" into China.
The road to Chongqing
After two events, Lilah and Lewis sit second in the Grand Prix ice dance standings, behind only Olympic champions Laurence Fournier Beaudry & Guillaume Cizeron of France. Skaters earn points for their placings at each of their two events, and the top six teams across the series qualify for the ISU Grand Prix Final in Chongqing, China, from 10 to 13 December.
A strong result in Shenzhen would put them in a commanding position to reach the Final for a fifth straight season, where they won bronze in both 2024 and 2025.
Schedule (UK time)
Rhythm Dance: Friday 6 November, from 06:45
Free Dance: Saturday 7 November, from 06:30
Shenzhen is eight hours ahead of the UK. Times are provisional.
How to watch
In the UK, both segments will be streamed live on the ISU's YouTube channel, Skating ISU, with live results on the ISU results website. Follow British Ice Skating on social media for updates from Shenzhen across the weekend.
