Short Track Speed Skating season underway with BIS Selection Event

There was some exciting racing in Nottingham last Friday (16th September) as the Short Track Speed Skating season got underway with a BIS Selection event. Skaters raced across all distances to try and secure a place in the GB Senior Performance Squad for the 2022/23 season.

Niall Treacy, back after his Olympic debut in February, topped the men's rankings after finishing first in each of the 500m, 1000m and 1500m. Holly Hoyland mirrored those results in the women's, taking first in all three distances.

Peter Riches ended second in the overall rankings thanks to a strong overall performance, including second in both the 1000m and 1500m. Kyle Ross Waddell rounded out the top three.

Charlotte Hayward and Fiona Harrison came second and third respectively in the women's overall standings.

A huge thanks must be passed on to all officials and volunteers for organising and running such a successful event.
