We’re pleased to share key updates for the 2025/26 Ice Dance season, including changes to the national competition structure, ISU alignment, and an exciting announcement regarding this season’s British Solo Dance Championship.
Updated ISU-Aligned Criteria
The Ice Dance competition criteria have been revised in line with the latest 2025/26 ISU rules, ensuring all categories reflect international standards. You can download these here, but they will also be available on our Technical Guidance page for easy access:
Please note: Some ISU communications are still pending, including clarification for Adult categories. We will update members as soon as final details are released.
Updated Pattern Dances for Juvenile
Juvenile skaters will now perform updated pattern dances, supporting development and progression through the Solo Dance pathway
New Choreo Element for Beginner and Juvenile
Beginner and Juvenile skaters now have the option of choosing a Choreographic Edge Element in their Free Dance, providing a development opportunity working towards including Edge Elements in Basic Novice.
A Championship to Be Proud Of
The Beginner and Juvenile categories have been removed from the British Solo Ice Dance Championships, to bring solo dance in line with the other disciplines. However, the top 3 ranked Juvenile skaters from the 2024/25 season will be invited to take part in a dedicated development opportunity as part of the 2025/26 British Solo Dance Championship weekend.
This year’s British Solo Ice Dance Championship will be delivered with the same level of care and quality as other national championship events. It will include:
Official event programmes and merchandise
Enhanced presentation and atmosphere
A platform that recognises the creativity, hard work, and excellence of Solo Dance athletes across the UK.
We are proud to elevate the Championship to truly reflect the spirit and growth of the discipline.
