The European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) opening ceremony that takes place on Sunday kicks off five days of competition in Vuokatti, Finland. Three British skaters, Edward Appleby, Elena Komova and Adam Hill will be part of the 1500 young athletes competing across nine different disciplines in the heart of Arctic Lakeland.
Edward and Elena, both two-time Junior British champions, will feature in the figure skating that starts on Wednesday 23rd March.
Adam Hill follows in the footsteps of Niall Treacy and Kathryn Thomson who both competed at a EYOF in short track speed skating. They both went on to make their Olympic debuts soon after. He’ll race in the 1500m on Monday 21st March, 500m the following day and 1000m on Friday 25th March.
All events will be streamed live so you can follow our group of up-and-coming skaters by clicking here.
Selection for The European Youth Olympic Festival as part of Team GB is a huge achievement for our skaters as they will get the opportunity to experience the leading multisport event for young European athletes between the ages of 14 and 18.
