British skaters Lilah Fear and Lewis Gibson have won the ice dance gold medal at the 2024 Finlandia Trophy in Helsinki, their second Grand Prix win of the season. The result secures them a spot at the Grand Prix Final happening in Grenoble December 5-8.
Fear incurred a minor injury in Friday’s practice session, but the pair refused to let it hold them back. After an excellent rhythm dance performance put them in second place, narrowly behind World silver medallists Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier (CAN), they dazzled in their free dance to secure their final spot at the top of the podium.

The win follows the pair’s gold medal success earlier in the season, when they became the first non-US couple in 15 years to win the ice dance title at the Skate America Grand Prix. Additional wins at the Nepela Memorial and Nebelhorn Trophy have further underlined the couple’s potential as European and World Championships – and the 2026 Winter Olympics – approach.
Fear and Gibson are no strangers to success - a previous Grand Prix win and two European silver medals are just a few of their achievements in recent years. Skating together since 2016, they have gone from strength to strength over the seasons – with them now firmly positioned as one of the best ice dance couples in the world.
