British Ice Skating are delighted to introduce the new President of British Ice Skating, Pam Aguss, a passionate advocate for our sport and its future!

In an important moment of transition for British Ice Skating, we bid farewell to our outgoing President, Robin Cousins MBE, and warmly welcome Pam Aguss as the organisation’s new President. Elected by the British Ice Skating membership as Vice-Chair of the Board at the 2025 BIS Annual General Meeting, Pam took over the accompanying role of President during an official handover with Robin at the European Figure Skating Championships in Sheffield in January. A long-standing official, judge and advocate for accessibility in skating, Pam brings decades of experience and a clear commitment to connection, collaboration and inclusivity. We are grateful to have her skills and leadership on board as we continue to forge the future of British skating. On the handover, British Ice Skating CEO Maggie Still said:
It is a delight to welcome Pam Aguss as President of British Ice Skating. Pam brings exceptional experience, integrity and a deep connection to our skating community, combined with a clear commitment to our vision and values. She steps into the role at an exciting time for the organisation and following the strong foundations laid by Robin - I look forward to working closely with her as we continue to build a progressive and ambitious future for British skating.
Below, Pam shares more about herself, her motivations, and her vision for the future of skating in Britain.
Q&A: Meet Pam Aguss
Tell Us About Yourself!
With over five decades in skating, I have served as an ISU International Judge for Singles & Pairs and currently work as a National Senior Championship Judge, National Referee, and Technical Controller. I spend much of my time at the grassroots of the sport, supporting club competitions, judging tests, and working as an experienced Test Organiser, keeping me closely connected.I am a wholehearted advocate for skating being open to anyone who wants to participate, in any discipline. I’m excited that my new role will allow me to engage more closely with disciplines I know less well and broaden my understanding of the full skating landscape.Beyond the rink, my background in human resources and community volunteering has strengthened my communication, governance, and leadership skills. These qualities complement my skating expertise and underpin my continued dedication to the sport. It is my absolute honour to serve as Vice Chair of the Board and President of British Ice Skating.
Fun Facts:
West End Musicals and movie enthusiast: I love theatre, but my guilty pleasure is watching Disney movies with my grown-up daughter—we’re both still children at heart.
Music & Dance: I adore singing along to my favourite Spotify tunes and dancing. I even sang in a folk choir until last year.
Travel bug: My husband and I are steadily ticking off our global bucket-list destinations and sampling local cuisine along the way. Adventure is always calling, and our mantra is simple: do it while we can.
What made you decide to stand in the election?
I believe our membership deserves a strong and authentic voice at Board level. My commitment to widening access and creating opportunities for everyone who wants to skate is at the heart of everything I do. Joining the strategic leadership team is the best way to help shape the future of skating in Britain for all who choose to embrace it.
What's your vision for the future of British skating?
The global skating landscape is evolving and the ISU’s Vision 2030 plan is placing people and fans at the centre of the sport. Britain is proud to be at the forefront of this evolution by becoming only the third nation to adopt same-sex partnerships in ice dance. This step not only strengthens inclusivity but also helps address the shortage of male partners, opening new pathways for more athletes to compete. It is just one example of the transformative initiatives shaping skating’s future worldwide.I am committed to ensuring our members benefit from these developments and from the many opportunities emerging across all disciplines.
As I begin my tenure, my message to the membership is simple: Let’s Connect. My campaign centred on collaboration and communication, and that remains my priority. I want to hear your ideas, your feedback, and your experiences. Please do reach out, whether at events or through our community channels so we can keep the conversation developing together. More to follow on this in due course!
A farewell to Robin What can I say about the iconic Robin Cousins? He is skating royalty, an inspiring advocate and mentor who has championed the development of skating at every level and worked tirelessly to bring elite competitions to the UK. It was a fitting tribute that the inaugural Robin Cousins Cup was held in Sheffield this summer to honour his legacy. As he moves on to new adventures, I want to thank him for his support and guidance to me personally as I step into this role. Fortunately, he will remain active in skating so we can look forward to seeing him at more events in the future.
