The Solway Stars, who train in Dumfries, placed 15th overall and set a new British National Junior Record this weekend at the ISU Junior World Synchronised Skating Championships in Angers, France.
Skating to a crowd-pleaser from the Elvis movie, they landed into 17th place after the the Short Program. After a near perfect Free Skate, where they set their new Personal Best of 69.82, they finished 15th overall. A fantastic finish at their Worlds debut!
Abbie Turner, the captain of the Solway Stars commented “Competing at the Junior World Synchronised Skating Championships is a dream come true for Solway Stars. We have been working towards this goal for over a decade so finally standing on Worlds ice was an extremely special moment that we will never forget.”
“We are proud of both of our performances, and we achieved a new international Free Skate score, as well as a new British Junior Worlds PB! The atmosphere was so welcoming, and the audience’s support gave us all such a buzz! We can’t wait to hopefully compete again on the worlds stage next year!”
Well done Solway Stars! We look forward to seeing you reach even bigger heights next season!
