SUNDEEP PANDYA

POSITION STANDING FOR:

TAC: Ice Dance

Vacancy: Judge

CANDIDATE STATEMENT:

I am writing to formally express my interest in joining the Ice Dance Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) for British Ice Skating. As a qualified ISU International Judge for Great Britain with a professional background in law and finance in London for the past 30 years, I bring a unique blend of corporate governance, deep historical perspective, and technical expertise to this role.

My involvement in competitive ice dance spans over three decades, beginning in the 1990s under the 6.0 judging system. During this formative period, I spent seven years involved with the Lithuanian federation as a national judge and team leader. Attending numerous prestigious events—including National Championships, the ISU Grand Prix series, European Championships, and World Championships—provided me with a foundational understanding of high-level competitive dynamics, international relations, and federated structures.

Building upon this lifelong commitment, I passed the ISU international ice dance judging examination in 2024 for GBR – becoming the first judge of Indian heritage to do so. This achievement has solidified my comprehensive understanding of the modern International Judging System (IJS) and the complex evolving regulations specific to ice dance. Since my appointment, I have maintained a high cadence of officiating, judging over 12 national and international events including Solo Dance. This consistent, hands-on experience ensures that my technical knowledge remains sharp, practical, and directly aligned with the demands of global officiating standards.

If appointed to the TAC, I will leverage this dual perspective—bridging decades of sport heritage with modern, certified ISU expertise—to support British Ice Skating from grass routes up. My primary focus will be working collaboratively and transparently to refine domestic technical frameworks, ensuring our regulations mirror international advancements to give British athletes – including couples, solo dance and adult skating - the best possible platform and competitive edge.

As solo dance and adult skating are rapidly developing disciplines on the international stage, it is vital that the TAC remains proactively aligned with their evolution to elevate BIS's standing relative to our global counterparts. Furthermore, I am eager to contribute to the education, recruitment, and mentorship of our skaters and domestic officials, cultivating a robust, highly skilled, and transparent officiating network across the UK – from club events to BIS events and beyond.

As a professional working in law and finance, I am committed to objectivity, accountability, and the highest standards of integrity. I welcome the opportunity to work alongside fellow committee members, coaches, skaters and officials to foster a high-performance culture that empowers British ice dancers to excel on local, national, and international stages.

Thank you for considering my application.
