PHILLIPA TOWLER-GREEN
POSITION STANDING FOR:
TAC: Ice Dance
Vacancy: Coach
CANDIDATE STATEMENT:
I would bring practical, current experience and a strong commitment to the development of ice dance in Great Britain to the Ice Dance Technical Advisory Committee.
As an ice dance coach, I work with skaters at different ages and stages of their development. This gives me a valuable perspective on how technical requirements are understood and applied in practice, from introductory levels through to competitive skating. I see how clear, consistent guidance can help skaters progress and help coaches support them effectively.
I would be keen to contribute to the development and regular review of ice dance tests, event criteria, selection criteria and the technical content of the Skate UK Star and Passport Programme. I understand the importance of making requirements accurate, accessible and aligned with current ISU rules, while also ensuring they are communicated clearly to skaters, coaches and officials. I would approach this work carefully, with attention to detail and a willingness to research, discuss and update guidance when needed.
My coaching role involves explaining technical ideas in ways that make sense to different learners, and working with skaters, families and colleagues to support progress. I believe this would help me contribute constructively to the Committee's work and to the wider communication of technical information.
I would bring an open-minded, collaborative and fair approach. I value hearing different perspectives, working towards shared decisions and keeping the interests of the discipline and its participants at the centre of discussions. I would be proud to use my experience and enthusiasm to support the continued development of ice dance in Great Britain.
