NICK RUSSELL

I am an ISU Championship Judge with over 30 years experience. I have had official roles at the last three Olympics (two as a judge another with athletes and BOA).

I have held positions in our sport and others including Vice Chair of NISA, the nominated Commercial Director NISA, Chair of the Working Group to create and deliver the revised structure of the Association, member of the Ice Dance Committee of NISA, Vice Chair of Special Olympics, assisting that organisation deliver its goals and organisational change.

As Director/Owner of a sports business IPW…, we work with Rugby Union, Football, Cricket, Snooker, Rugby League, Swimming, Athletics, Golf and Cycling. I have advised on 30+ rinks delivering Cambridge and Lee Valley.

There has been a difficult recent period with delivery of the revised organisational structure alongside the financial issue. Engagement of membership with BIS corporately and structurally has been low.
I feel a responsibility to assist BIS to becoming the organisation that was intended and required by the stakeholders and the membership.

We had a clear set of objectives in setting up the current BIS structure. This provided for the executive to execute and the volunteer base at grassroots, TAC and Board level to assist in that execution, in partnership. This has not happened.

There are positive attributes including the current CEO and Chair. There are great opportunities within the original principles/structure and we should look to reinvigorate those calling upon the wider skills of the membership, clubs, executive and volunteers. Working together these objectives can be achieved. My aims are to unlock that potential within the organisation for the benefit of our sport.

I have significant commercial, financial and corporate experience of changing organisations. A proper partnership is how we can make BIS work and build our sport to meet the future challenges and to prosper.
