ALMILA ARIKAN SARBANOGLU

Singles and Pairs TAC

Judge

CANDIDATE STATEMENT:

Having been involved in figure skating since the age of seven, my commitment to our sport spans a lifetime. Since qualifying as a national judge in 2000 in Turkiye, I have dedicated 26 years to officiating, including the last decade representing Great Britain - British Ice Skating (BIS) internationally as an International Skating Union (ISU) Judge, International Technical Controller, and International Referee. Through extensive assignments across the ISU circuit, I offer BIS strong technical depth, first hand insight into global standards, and a trustworthy voice for ISU rules and regulations.

My experience directly aligns with the remit o f the Singles & Pairs Technical Advisory Committee (TAC). I will actively champion and deliver the positive changes already in motion, ensuring seamless continuity while advancing new domestic frameworks. My priority will be to build on our solid foundation, so our test structures, event criteria, and foundational programmes are modern, robust, and aligned with ISU requirements where required, supporting early talent identification and instilling world-class technique from grassroots to high performance.

Every decision we make must deliver tangible, direct benefits to our members and our community. This means providing timely guidance and fair progression pathways. I am committed to inclusivity, ensuring our sport provides rewarding opportunities for every skater, whether following a competitive pathway, skating recreationally, as an adult, or within inclusive and special needs skating.

Effective committee work relies on teamwork, open dialogue, and consultative leadership. Where appropriate, I will consult and listen to the voices in our community, working in close partnership with all TAC disciplines, the BIS Board, and the BIS office to ensure our decisions reflect real-world needs.

My focus is equally on nurturing and empowering our officials. I am dedicated to strengthening the qualification, education, and development pathways for all officials, ensuring they feel valued, mentored, and thoroughly equipped to excel. By fostering transparent, merit-based, and budget-supported decisions, we can continue to build a confident, unified officiating community that remains respected worldwide.

Beyond the rink, I bring a 23-year professional career comprising 15 years in banking and eight years in financial technology. Operating in international corporate environments under rigorous governance has instilled in me a steadfast commitment to transparency, objectivity, and accountability. Furthermore, leading multicultural high- performing teams and digital transformation journeys equips me with a progressive mindset to help modernise our operations and drive forward-thinking solutions.

BIS has tremendous potential. By combining my lifelong dedication and passion, ISU credentials, and professional background, I am ready to deliver on our ongoing and new initiatives and help build an inspiring,
