ALAN ABRETTI

POSITION STANDING FOR:

TAC: Ice Dance

Vacancy: Coach

CANDIDATE STATEMENT:

I am standing for election as the Coaches' Representative on the Ice Dance Technical Advisory Committee because I am passionate about supporting the continued growth, development and success of British ice dance at every level of our sport.

My experience within ice dance spans competitive skating, professional performance and coaching. As a competitive athlete, I was proud to represent Great Britain at three European Championships and one World Championship. Following my competitive career, I skated professionally with my partner, becoming a World Professional Ice Dance Championships Silver Medallist and performing as a Principal Ice Dance/Adagio skater in numerous international productions, including Holiday on Ice.

Since beginning my coaching career in 1997, I have dedicated myself to developing athletes and supporting the growth of our sport. For over a decade, I have coached at elite level, working with athletes from development stages through to national and international success. During this time, I have coached National Champions, International Champions, and athletes competing at both European and World Championship level. I have also collaborated extensively with internationally recognised ice dance coaches and officials, providing me with first- hand experience of different training systems, athlete development pathways and performance environments across the international skating community.

These experiences have given me a unique perspective on the needs of athletes, coaches and clubs, while also providing a clear understanding of the standards required to succeed on the international stage. They have reinforced my belief that coaches should have a strong and respected voice in shaping the future direction of British ice dance.

If elected, I will be an approachable, proactive and committed representative for coaches across the UK. I will actively seek feedback, encourage constructive dialogue and ensure that the views of coaches working at al levels of the sport are represented fairly and effectively. I believe open communication and collaboration are essential to strengthening athlete pathways, coach development opportunities and the future of our discipline.

I bring not only extensive coaching experience, but also the perspective of someone who has represented Great Britain as an athlete, performed professionally at the highest level, and helped develop skaters to national and international success. These experiences allow me to understand our sport from multiple viewpoints and contribute positively to discussions that support its continued growth.

British ice dance has a proud history and an exciting future. I would be honoured to serve as your Coaches' Representative on the Ice Dance TAC, bringing experience, professionalism and a genuine commitment to representing the coaching community.

I respectfully ask for your support and vote.
