NISA have created a Learn to Skate programme for every Ice Rink in the UK. The problem is that not every ice rink in the UK uses Skate UK. Well actually, the problem is that most DO use the Ten Stages of Skate UK but unfortunately do not use NISA qualified coaches to deliver it, or to give out official Skate UK awards.
For this reason NISA decided to look at the activity of all rinks in the UK and based upon their commitment to the Skate UK brand, NISA will award them with a status that means NISA are happy with the way they role out their 'Learn to Skate' programme.
NISA Approved Skate UK centres, are clearly marked on the map at the front of this website, and similarly on the home page of the Skate UK section.

Condition of Status
Ice rinks wanting to become Skate UK centres, have to show commitment to the brand by delivering the course with NISA qualified coaches, making it clear they are delivering a Skate UK course, abiding by 10 stages of Skate UK, and selling the Skate UK award scheme.
Believe it or not some rinks actually state they are delivering a Skate UK course and photocopy certificates, or create their own 'home made' style awards, and charge customers for it. NISA believes that customers of Skate UK want quality awards that support a nationally recognised Learn to Skate programme.
Any centre that does not uphold the conditions of status will have their approved status removed.
