The International Skating Union has today announced the athlete assignments for the 2025 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series, with three of Team GBR’s most exciting teams confirmed to compete across the six prestigious events taking place this autumn.
The Grand Prix Series features six international competitions where the world’s top athletes compete for points toward qualification for the ISU Grand Prix Final, which will be held this season from 4–7 December in Nagoya, Japan. Each skater or team may compete in up to two events, with the top six in each discipline advancing to the Final.
For Lilah Fear and Lewis Gibson, the 2025 season represents another opportunity to build on a phenomenal run of form. The reigning World bronze medallists have been assigned to Grand Prix de France (Angers, 17–19 October) and NHK Trophy (Osaka, 7–9 November with the duo looking to repeat their gold medal performances in 2024 secured them a place at the ISU Grand Prix Final. Lilah and Lewis then went on to make history, claiming Team GBR’s first ever Grand Prix medal, cementing their place among the world’s elite.
Also flying the flag for Team GBR in ice dance are Phebe Bekker and James Hernandez, who will make their senior Grand Prix debut at Skate America in Lake Placid (14–16 November). The event holds special significance, having been the original host of Skate America in 1979. Phebe and James have made an impressive transition from junior to senior level, with strong performances on the Challenger Series circuit and at major ISU Championships. Their assignment marks a significant milestone in their upward trajectory and signals growing international recognition for the team.
In the pairs discipline, Anastasia Vaipan-Law and Luke Digby have been selected to represent Team GBR at Skate Canada in Saskatoon (31 October – 2 November). Following a phenomenal 2024 season, which saw them achieve the highest placement for a British pair at the European Championships in over three decades, the team continues to gain momentum. Their combination of technical difficulty and emotional performance quality makes them one of the most exciting pairs teams to watch this season.
The ISU Grand Prix Series will run from mid-October through the start of December, bringing together the top names in global figure skating. Alongside the pursuit of medals and qualification to the Final, the series offers critical preparation in the lead-up to the ISU European Figure Skating Championships 2026, set to take place in Sheffield, UK – a home Championships for Team GBR.
