World Cup 5, part of the ISU World Cup Short Track series, is being held in the Joynext Arena in Dresden, Germany. British Ice Skating have 6 athletes from the performance squad representing Great Britain this weekend.
We know it’s hard to recognise the faces of our performance squad when they’re skating round at over 35mph!! These are the helmet numbers for our athletes so you can spot them on the ISU Live Stream and the distances they will be skating:
Men
Niall Treacy - 65 - 1500m (1) and 500m
Ethan Treacy - 46 - 1000m and 500m
Peter Riches - 153 - 1000m and 1500m (2)
Adam Hill Jr - 155 - 1500m (1) and 500m
Theo Collins - 156 - 1000m and 1500m (2)
Women
Holly Hoyland- 28 - 1500m (1) and 500m
There will also be a British men’s relay with the team being announced during tomorrow’s qualifying session!
Qualifying is set to kick off the weekend full of racing on Friday at 8am UK time! You can catch the GB performance squad on the ISU skating channel!
Up first for the team will be the men’s 1000m (08:00GMT) preliminaries where you can catch Ethan Treacy, Peter Riches and Theo Collins in the morning with heats following on for those who have qualified. Then catch Holly Hoyland skating the women’s 1500m (10:00GMT) quarterfinals followed by the Men’s 1500m (1) (10:40GMT) where you can catch Olympian, Niall Treacy and Adam Hill Jr.
Just before 1pm (12:58GMT) is the Women’s 500m preliminaries with Holly Hoyland, followed by Niall Treacy, Ethan Treacy and Adam Hill Jr in the Men’s 500m, with the heats for the 500m shortly afterwards. At 15:30 watch Peter Riches and Theo Collins in the 1500m (2) quarterfinals and then to round off the day the men’s relay quarterfinals being at 17:28.
Tomorrow looks like a jam-packed session for our GB squad with plenty of exciting racing to watch over the upcoming weekend!
