Everything You Need to Know: BIS Short Track Open & Performance Selection Event
Short track speed skating takes centre stage at the National Ice Centre in Nottingham on Friday 11 September, with two exciting competitions taking place alongside each other.
The BIS Short Track Open will give athletes of all ages a chance to test their competitive skills, while the BIS Short Track Speed Skating Performance Selection Event will see some of Britain’s leading short track skaters battle it out for the chance to represent Great Britain on the international stage during the 2026/27 season.
With places on the line for the World Tour and Junior World Cups, there’s plenty to look forward to throughout the day!
Two events, one action-packed day
BIS Short Track Open
The BIS Short Track Open will see athletes of all ages take to the starting line and put their skills to the test. With racing starting from 15:35, expect to see high adrenaline and fierce competition across 500m, 333m and 1000m distances. See full race schedule below!
Performance Selection Event
Alongside the Open, the Performance Selection Event will see athletes competing for the opportunity to earn selection to Great Britain’s team for the 2026/27 ISU Short Track World Tour and ISU Junior World Cups.
With international opportunities at stake it's all to race for as athletes look to put themselves in contention for a place on the GB team!
