Welcome to the exciting new format for the BIS Cup coming for the 2026/27 season!
The BIS Cup is the national competition series for skaters whose current goals sit within the National 4-8 pathway, offering a structured competition track and rewarding end-of-season objective that aligns with their current goals.
Whether skaters are focused on developing their skills, gaining competition experience, achieving personal bests or simply enjoying the challenge of competition, the series provides a platform to measure progress and celebrate success throughout the season.

What’s Changing?
In previous seasons, two qualification events were hosted in Sheffield, culminating in the BIS Cup Final, also taking place in Sheffield. We have taken on board member feedback about wanting greater competition accessibility, particularly in terms of the location of events. We are therefore excited to announce a new format for the series going forward, designed to give skaters a wider range of opportunities to get involved in the BIS Cup that involves less travel.
The new BIS Cup Series will tour much like the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating, with several BIS-permitted Club Open/Club International competitions acting as qualifiers for the BIS Cup Final, to be held in Sheffield in June 2027. For the 2026-27 season, the following competitions will be BIS Cup Series partners - skaters will need to compete in at least two of these events (within a National 4-8 category) to have their scores included in the rankings for the BIS Cup Final:
Magnum Open 7-9 August 2026
Cambridge Classic 7-9 September 2026
Tayside Trophy 12-14 October 2026
Robin Hood Trophy 11-15 January 2027
BIS Cup Series Blackburn 2027 9-11 March 2027
Oxford Open 19-22 April 2027
Additional events are under discussion and may be announced shortly.
We are excited to be collaborating with so many fantastic competitions to deliver the BIS Cup Series in a more accessible way, and to bring British Ice Skating closer to rinks and clubs around the country!
Plans for the Future
This will be the first year we try taking the BIS Cup Series on tour, and we will be listening and learning along the way to make improvements for future years. We would love to hear your thoughts on the new BIS Cup format – if you have any concerns or suggestions, you can share them with us here. We will be reviewing all feedback closely as we continue to plan for future seasons.

FAQs
How do I enter BIS Cup Series events?
The events making up the BIS Cup Series will run as standard competitions, organised and delivered by their own organising committees. The only change is that scores achieved by National 4-8 skaters competing in them can contribute towards their qualification for the BIS Cup Final. These events should be entered, and competed in, in line with each individual event’s announcement – there is no extra registration or action needed. As long as a skater competes in at least two of these events during the season, and meets the other eligibility requirements, they will automatically be included in the BIS Cup rankings and invited to the Final if they qualify. The entry process for the BIS Cup Final will be outlined in its event announcement, to be released later in the season.
How do I Qualify for the BIS Cup Final?
To qualify for the BIS Cup Final, skaters will need to:
Compete in a minimum of two BIS Cup Series Events during the 2026/27 season;
Not compete at the British Figure Skating Championships 2026; and
Qualify for the final based on their position in the BIS Cup ranking in accordance with the Announcement for the final
How were the events chosen that will act as BIS Cup Series qualifying events?
For this pilot year, a specific set of Organising Committees, who had already communicated their event dates for the season with BIS, were invited to collaborate with us. This simplified the planning process while ensuring the series was spread across a diverse range of locations and dates.
As we are keen to include as many venues and clubs as possible in the BIS Cup going forward, we hope to make this an open application process in future years.
