IRMA, British Ice Skating and EIHA, along with other sports, have been waiting for more than a week for the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) to issue its latest guidance following the announcement that the second national lockdown will end on Tuesday 1st December.
As regions in England enter different tiers these vital, specific updates have still not been published. This means that we have been left to interpret the rules, rather than be guided by government.
British Ice Skating and EIHA have produced initial guidance relating to ice sports in tiers 1, 2 and 3.
British Ice Skating guidance can be found here and EIHA will send their guidance to club representatives.
As there are variances on the interpretation regarding “supervised activities for children” in tier 3 some rinks may open based on their interpretation of the legislation. However, until an official response is received from DCMS both NGBs can only offer an initial interpretation that is subject to government approval.
We will share the official final response from DCMS when we receive this.
