We are sorry to report that the Britannia Cup and British Short Track Speed Skating Championships, due to take place in January, have had to be postponed.
The postponement of both events is due to the risks posed by the rising number of cases of Covid-19, uncertainty around travel restrictions and changing public health measures across all home nations.
The health and safety of skaters, coaches and spectators is our number one priority and all decisions were made on that basis.
British Ice Skating did not take the decision lightly and staff have explored many options to try and keep the competitions as scheduled. We are incredibly disappointed to have to bring you this news and appreciate it will bring a great deal of disappointment to many.
We are determined to ensure that through the coming months we remain a voice for the importance of activity, skating and the ability for our members to do what they love.
Staff are continuing to work to ensure any alternative and viable options are explored. In light of ever changing guidance from across all home nations decisions will be made as more information comes to light. Any further news will be communicated to members and skaters as soon as possible.
