September 8th saw our 2023-24 Short Track Selection Event taking place, with the country’s best short track speed skaters racing for their place on the BIS Performance Squad. Competition was fierce with numerous close battles, and it was a great way to kick off the racing season.
Mohawks skater Niall Treacy swept the event, taking an incredible first place across all three distances. Aldwych skaters Theo Collins, Jonathan Moody and Peter Riches scooped up all but one of the other podium spots, with Nottingham’s Kyle Ross-Waddell securing the last with his strong third-place finish in the 500m.
The event also saw Ethan Treacy compete in his last race, as he intends to now step away from his highly successful short track career to focus on life outside of sport.
