Figure & Synchronized Skating Officials

Officials are respected members of British Ice Skating who volunteer their time and expertise of the sport to support the development of our skaters. They are involved because of their love of skating and to assist in the progression of our athletes around the country, from grassroots to the high-performance level.

Officials provide their knowledge in various capacities within the organisation, including officiating at test sessions, competitions and providing education to fellow officials, coaches and skaters alike.

Referees

Referees are the designated chairperson of a judging panel and act as spokesperson for a competition.

Judges

Judges are required for all figure skating disciplines as well as synchronized skating. They evaluate the quality of the elements and the performance of a skater/team in a competition or test.

Probationary Judges

Our Probationary Judges are our judges-in-training, working under the Judge-in-Charge or Referee.

Technical Controller

The Technical Controller acts as chair and supervisor of the technical panel at an International Judging System competition

Data & Replay Operators (DRO)

An essential part of the Technical Panel, the Data & Replay Operators assist with the provision of an instantaneous slow-motion video replay system and in the identification of the performed elements.

Results Teams

Responsible for preparing the paperwork that communicates vital competition information for skaters, officials and the wider public, the Results Team also plays a crucial role in set up and operation of equipment at the event itself.
