Recruitment of New Judges
NISA are currently looking to recruit new judges in figure, dance and synchro. Applicants should have skated themselves and be an eligible person.
Skaters who may have registered for NCCP but have not continued with this are welcome to apply, as re-instatement as an eligible (amateur) person is immediate upon application and agreement from the NISA Board. There is no longer the former mandatory time-delay between coaching and judging, although certain restrictions are in place to cover conflicts of interests.
In the past there has been a distinct lack of multi discipline judges and NISA now try to ensure that new judges are offered the chance to judge both figure and dance if they have the relevant test medals in both. Synchronized skating can be judged by both figure and dance judges trained in the discipline. In some cases fast track promotion is possible, especially where selection to international status is dependant on age.
Judge education has improved considerably in recent years and each new probationary judge is allocated a mentor in their geographical region, to assist. Educate and generally guide them into the judging community.
Application forms and eligibility re-instatement forms can be downloaded from below or are a available from the NISA office.
Any enquiries should be sent to Liz Littler, Director Judges/Officials Education either by Email or via the NISA office, but application forms should be sent direct to the NISA office.
