| The National Ice Skating Association (NISA) has named its Performance Squad that will represent Team GB at international competitions during 2012 and 2013.
Amongst the skaters selected by governing body NISA are Winter Olympians Penny Coomes and Nick Buckland. The current British Champions will be joined in the Senior Dance category by World and European Championship skaters Louise Walden and Owen Edwards. Seven-time senior British Champions Stacey Kemp and David King are picked in the Senior Pairs category. |

The Senior Ladies category features 2010 Olympian and nine-time British Champion Jenna McCorkell, European and World Junior Championships skater Karly Robertson, and Katie Powell, who has just been selected for Team GB’s 2012 Olympic Ambition Programme.
NISA will be represented by Olivia Smart and Joe Buckland, brother of Nick, in the Junior Dance category. The duo secured gold at the recent Mentor Nestle Nesquik Cup 2012 in Poland. Harry Mattick, PJ Hallam and Jamie Whiteman, who have a combined six British titles, make up the Junior Men category. The Wight Jewels, who competed in the 2012 Junior World Challenge Cup, have been selected by NISA in the Synchro category. Ken Pendrey NISA Board Chairman and President said: “It is extremely pleasing to see so much talent in this very strong squad of skaters, who I am confident will deliver great performances and continue to bring international medal success to the UK.” |
It follows the announcement that NISA has been awarded a Grant Funding Agreement of £174,337 by UK Sport to be invested into its Figure Skating Programme over the next two years.
The funding is part of a move to drive forward the delivery World Class performance skating in Great Britain ahead of the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.
