Ice skaters from across the country will be descending on Sheffield as the city hosts the 2012 British Solo Ice Skating Dance Championships.
The week long competition at the end of June will be held at iceSheffield and has now been extended across five days due to the growing popularity of solo ice dancing.
Nineteen ice skaters who train at iceSheffield will be displaying their talents – including Harriet Beatson and Elizabeth Key in the junior ladies section, Emile Betts-Dawson in the novice men and Megan Hancock for novice ladies
Keith Horton, chief executive of the National Ice Skating Association (NISA) said: “The event is growing year on year and has now been extended to a five days, which highlights the increasing popularity of solo dancing and the huge amount of talent we have in this country
“This is also the third year the IJS judging system has been applied at the Championships as part of NISA commitment to raising standards within the Solo Dance category.
“We wish all the skaters good luck for the completion and look forward to some exciting skating displays.”
The British Solo Ice Dance Championships will be held from Monday June 25 to Friday June 29 at iceSheffield and doors will open daily at 7am.
Tickets for the event are priced at £15 for adults for the week or £5 per day and a concession weekly ticket is £9 or £3 per day for concessions.
