14th In World for Jenna!

At the World Championships in Torino, Italy, today Northern Ireland’s Jenna McCorkell scored a PB not only in the free programme but in her overall score! Lying in 15th place overnight the young 23 year old pulled out all the stops and put herself and GB back on the map in style! The final 24 took to the ice with Jenna skating in the 2nd group. With a flawless performance and the best all year she placed 14th overall out of final 24 (there were 55 starters for the short). However, not only was it the first time in many years a GB female skater has reached this place but it was the first time in many years since a female singles skater reached top 12 in the free programme. This was her best ever World Championships.
‘I just can’t put into words how I feel, it is the total opposite to last month and I am delighted with my personal best scores in both the free and overall score.’ Said Jenna speaking from Turin
‘This is the Jenna we know and love! Everything was great, she has demonstrated just what champions are made off! The Olympics was a nightmare but it would appear that Jenna has put this firmly in its place and where it belongs – in the past!’ Stated Jenna’s PR Karin McBride.
Yuri Bureiko her coach since she was 15 yrs old was equally delighted: ‘This was a joy to watch! It is the best I have ever seen Jenna skate in competition. She is a brilliant athlete who has shown she has what it takes.’
