Busy Week For Team GB

This week Team GB skaters will be taking part in an outstanding 4 figure skating competitions across Europe.

Sinead and John Kerr will be skating in their second ISU Grand Prix event - Trophee Bompard in Paris from 13 - 16 November. This competition (along with the rest of the Grand Prix) will be aired on British Eurosport. Please check your TV listings for broadcast times.

Our largest team will be taking part in the Golden Spin of Zagreb from 13 - 16 November. The following athletes will be competing:

Jenna McCorkell - Senior Lady

Elliot Hilton - Senior Man

Matthew Parr - Senior Man

Stacey Kemp & David King - Senior Pairs

Phillipa Towler-Green & Phillip Poole - Senior Ice Dance

Penny Coomes & Nick Buckland - Senior Ice Dance

This competition will be Elliot and Matthew's first senior event from their International allocation for selection to compete in this season's ISU Championships. Elliot and Matthew will also be competing in the Ondrej Nepela Memorial later this month.

Stacey & David will be making their season debut with this competition ahead of their ISU Grand Prix event - NHK Trophy at the end of the month.

This is the final allocated International competition for Phillipa & Phillip and Penny & Nick. Both couples have already achieved the qualification score for the European Championships, but will be looking to obtain the scores required to qualify for selection for the World Championships also.

Thomas Paulson will be competing in Crystal Skate in Romania, 13 - 16 November. This is Thomas' final allocated International competition.

Finally, Christina Chitwood & Mark Hanretty will be taking part in the Pavel Roman Memorial in Czech Republic, 14 - 16 November. This will also be Christina & Mark's final allocated International competition. Christina & Mark have already achieved the scores required to qualify for selection for both European and World Championships this season, but will be looking to improve on their overall PB.

If more than once couple attains the scores required for qualification then the 2 with the highest overall score from either of their allocation competitions will be selected to compete. With 6 Ice Dance couples on the GB squad this year and only 1 additional place available at the European and World Championships (1 place automatically goes to Sinead & John), the competition is fierce.

In addition to the GB squad, skaters from the National Ice Centre in Nottingham will be competing in the Club International, the Warsaw Cup in Poland this week. These skaters are Alex Witek, Jade Edwards, Nina Povey, Bryony Corrigan-Rattray, Charlie Parry-Evans, Alba Roberts and Jamie Whiteman.

NISA would like to wish all of the skaters the best of luck in their competitions.
