Young Flintshire Skaters Audition For TV's Dancing On Ice

TWO young skaters are to audition for a chance to appear on ITV's Dancing On Ice.
Maisy Jones, 10, and Ben McNulty, 17, will be taking part in auditions in Bradford and Slough, in a bid to make the televised stages of the popular contest.

Maisy, from Mancot, has been skating for three years. She started out playing ice hockey, but a coach suggested she try figure skating.

Maisy sent off video footage of her dancing, and the competition organisers invited her to an audition.

Mum Lisa says Maisy is very excited, but also a bit nervous.

She added: "It's going to be a great experience."

Although she was held up by injuries in March, Maisy has been in intensive training at Deeside Ice Rink with her coach.

Maisy's first audition will be in Slough on October 30, but her busy schedule means she won't have any time to take a breather in between competitions as she is competing in Cardiff the following Wednesday.

Ben, 17, who has been skating for nine years, is taking part in the Blackburn auditions on November 5. He has been training up to six days a week with his coaches to prepare for the competition.

Dad Mike said: "He loves doing cartwheels and stunt moves. He's very much a showman. He gets lots of bumps and bruises though!"

Ben, who fits his training around his job at bowling alley Tenpin, has previously had leading roles in Grease On Ice and Phantom Of The Opera On Ice, and has had success in national and international competitions.

If successful, the skaters will appear on television, and will take part in the Dancing On Ice Tour.
