NISA APPOINTS PART TIME ‘CARETAKER’ DIRECTOR OF PERFORMANCE FIGURE SKATING

 

NISA is pleased to announce that with effect from 1st August 2008 Stuart Horsepool is appointed ‘caretaker’ Director of Performance Figure Skating. The position is to provide temporary cover for Cath Barker whilst she is away on maternity leave until the 28th February 2009.

Stuart is well known throughout the World of Ice Skating as the individual responsible for delivering the highly successful World Class Short Track programme which is funded by both UK Sport, TASS and Sport England East Midlands Regional Office with support from NIC and OMI. (The total funding for the 2008/9 season will be well in excess of £500,000).

Stuart’s role within figure skating will be to manage the following Government funded figure skating programmes and the skaters participating in these programmes:

UK Sport Podium funding
TASS 2012
TASS CORE
Northern Ireland Sports Council Funding
Cyngor Chwaraeon Cymru Elite Funding

Initially Stuart will work a minimum one day per week with Figure Skating. Stuart is also a member of the UK Sport Performance Directors Strategic Group which includes amongst its membership, the Performance Directors from Cycling, Athletics and Sailing plus a number of other high performance sports
