2011 ISU World Short Track Championships Provisionally Announced

NISA is very pleased to announce that the ISU have today announced the provisional allocation of the 2011 ISU World Short Track Championships on 11th – 13th March to NISA.

On behalf of the Board of NISA, Keith Horton, General Secretary commented, “This is a very significant announcement for NISA and completes one of the pieces of the jigsaw of our International Events Strategy. NISA, some 3 years ago, made a commitment to bring International/Championship ice skating events to the UK”.

In 2007, NISA hosted the ISU European Short Track Championships and in the same year saw the very first John Curry Junior Grand Prix held at Sheffield. This event has been awarded again for 2008 and is now very firmly on the NISA event calendar. The provisional allocation of the World Short Track Championships will be a stepping stone to our goal of bringing the European Figure Skating Championships to the UK in 2012.

NISA would welcome an opportunity to showcase a major Winter Sports Championship ahead of England hosting the Summer Olympics in 2012.
