Salut Fusion! Silver in the Trophée des Hauts de France

Bracknell Ice Skating Club’s synchronised team, Fusion, skated impeccably to win silver in the Trophée des Hauts de France. This is an annual international competition held in Compiègne, near Paris, this year attracting 40 synchronised ice skating teams from the UK, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Iceland, as well as many teams from across France.

It was the first international competition for all 16 of the young Fusion skaters, who won silver in the Novice category, the top international class for 10 – 15 year olds, competing against four other teams coming from France, Iceland and Czech Republic.

The Bracknell team, who were fourth to skate, produced without doubt their best performance against very strong competition to gain 31.72 points, placing them in the lead ahead of first to skate Mozaiks from Louviers, France with 28.80 points. They were finally pushed into second position by the last team to skate, the much older Kometa from Prague, Czech Republic who produced an outstanding performance gaining an incredible 58.63 points from the judges, a score much higher than many of the higher category Junior and Senior level teams.

A very proud David Phillips, the team coach, said “This was the best performance I have seen from our synchronised teams for many years; they were stunning and performed a virtually perfect routine”.

Fusion will be competing again on Easter Monday in the British Synchronised Skating Championships along with Bracknell’s two other teams; Fusion 1, the mixed age Intermediate team, and Fusion 2, the Elementary development team.
