Record Breaking Synchro Event

 

CONGRATULATIONS to everyone who took part in the British RJS Synchronized Skating Championships & National Open 2008 in Sheffield yesterday. It was a record breaking event with 437 skaters representing 32 teams from 15 UK rinks – the largest ever British Synchronized Skating event.

The Helen Volgushev Trophy was presented for the most entertaining performance to Lee Valley’s Intermediate 1 team, Phoenix and the Senior team Storm from Basingstoke was also presented with the Team of the year trophy.

Special presentations were made to the coaches for best elements as follows:

Best Line – Isis – Lee Valley
Best Circle – Phoenix – Lee Valley
Best Block – Unum – Sheffield
Best Intersection – Silver Blades – Altrincham
Best Wheel – Fusion 2 - Bracknell

To commemorate this extraordinary event, the President and Chairman of the National Ice Skating Association, Haig Oundjian, donated a special "Record Breakers" T-shirts to every skater, coach and official.


DB Promotions also donated a number of tickets for the Disney on Ice show, Finding Nemo, which will be touring Britain later this year. These tickets will be given to the winning teams in each category.

A special thank you must go out to all the staff at iceSheffield and to all the volunteers, teams, coaches and officials who made this event such a success.
