SUCCESS FOR JENNA MCCORKELL
In what has become a great year for ice skating in Northern Ireland, Jenna McCorkell was awarded Sportswoman of the Year 2007 by the Coleraine Times/Chronicle newspapers at a prestigious VIP reception in Coleraine at the week-end.
Four times British Senior Ladies Champion Jenna, who is currently 8th in the world rankings for best competition score this year, flew home for the event whilst in training for another international in a weeks time. This year already Jenna has been awarded Sportswoman of the Year by the UST, Dromona award winner from Dale Farm and to top off the awards on Saturday night she also received the Jim Watt bursary.
Jenna who took the bronze medal in her first international of the season in Bratislava, has already met the qualification scores for the European and world Championships 2008. She commented:
'This is a wonderful acknowledgement by the Coleraine Tmes and Coleraine Chronicle and Council who have supported me so much over the years, it was a privilege to receive the Sportswoman of the Year Award and the Jim Watt bursary award I consider this a great honour and would like to publicly thank them all.'
Jen, who is also supported by Sport NI is currently in training for another International, the Golden Spin of Zagreb in a weeks time.
