Team Spirit to compete at World Synchronized Skating Championships in Canada

Wales based 18-piece skating group, Team Spirit, are currently in Canada preparing for the ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships this weekend,  10th – 11th April in Ontario.

The ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships, which is an annual event organised by the International Skating Union, attracts the most elite senior level synchronized skating teams from around the world.

Team Spirit, which contains synchronized skaters ranging from 15 to 35 years old, was selected to represent Great Britain at the world class event after they were crowned Senior British Champions at the British Synchronized Skating Championships held in Nottingham earlier this year.

Katrina Cotterrall, Coach of Team Spirit, said: “Team Spirit are beyond excited for the World Synchronized Skating Championships in Ontario.

“The majority of the team live all over the UK, so since finding out that we qualified to represent Great Britain, we have been meeting up to train every Friday and Saturday evening until 3am to perfect our routine before travelling back home. We hope all of the hard work pays off.”

Team Spirit, from West Synchronized Skating Club in Cardiff, will be competing against 24 teams from the rest of the world.

It will be the second consecutive year that Team Spirit has represented Great Britain, after performing at the 2014 ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships in Courmayeur, Italy.

All competitive teams will have two days of unofficial practice ahead of the official competition which starts on Friday 10th April.
