Next week, from 1st to 6th December, figure skaters from all over the UK will come together at iceSheffield arena to compete for national glory.
The five day competition will involve skaters of various ages from categories basic novice through to senior. Among these will be British elite couple Chris Boyadji and Amani Fancy, and Olympians Nicholas Buckland and Penny Coomes. With both couples currently holding national titles in Senior Pairs and Senior Ice Dance respectively, they will be bringing everything they can to hold on to Gold.
Among the younger categories, a number of skaters have been identified as ones to watch and potential future Olympians, following in the footsteps of Buckland and Coomes, and Torvill and Dean before them.
On the lookout for potential UK talent will be Olympic Champion, Robin Cousins. Now working as High Performance Manager for the National Ice Skating Association (NISA) Robin said;
“With all different levels of singles, pairs and dance happening in one place, the British Championships is a great opportunity for the youngsters to watch the seniors in action and learn more about competing. It also provides an opportunity to see who's on track for Olympics 2022 and beyond.”
