NISA Skater Cuts the Ribbon at Ice Rink Opening

Lucy Hancock, 12 from Rotherham, has been formally invited to ‘cut the ribbon’ of Beckworth Emporium’s annual winter ice rink, in Northampton, on Tuesday 17th November.

Lucy won the Basic Novice Ladies Solo Dance Championships in June this year and was personally contacted by Beckworth Emporium on the back of her national glory. Gleaming with pride, Lucy’s dad Gary said;

“After Lucy won her category in the British Solo Dance Championships she was in the limelight and appeared on BBC Up North and CBBC Newsround. Her skating achievement impressed those at Beckworth Emporium and we were delighted to receive the phone call inviting Lucy to officially mark the opening of their winter ice rink.”

Lucy began skating at the age of seven after falling in love with the sport at a public skating session. Half way through completing the Skate UK programme at iceSheffield her coach at the time recognised her talent and she has now gone on to compete nationally.
