NISA Officials appointed to ISU Technical Committees

Last month, the 56th Ordinary Congress of the ISU was held in Dubrovnik, Croatia, where two NISA officials were appointed in the Technical Committees. NISA welcomes the re-election of Christopher Buchanan as Chair of the ISU Synchronized Skating Technical Committee, as well as the appointment of Hilary Selby as a member of the ISU Ice Dance Technical Committee.

Christopher Buchanan said;

“I was delighted and honoured to be re-elected as the Chair of the ISU Synchronized Skating Technical Committee with a substantial majority of the ISU members. It gives me the opportunity to continue with my programme of development for the discipline both in terms of quality of skating execution of our elite teams, and the growth of the discipline throughout the ISU skating world.

“My greatest goal will be, of course, driving our application for inclusion in the Olympic Winter Games in Beijing in 2022. This would mark a well deserved recognition of how far our wonderful discipline has come over the past few years.

“It was wonderful that not only that my re-election as Chair of the Technical Committee, but that another of our officials, Hilary Selby, was elected as a member of the ISU Ice Dance Technical Committee. This shows that the officials from our country are held in high regard within the ISU family.”

Hilary Selby added;

“Great Britain has long held a prominent position in the history of Ice Dance and I am honoured to continue to uphold such an involvement. I was elected based upon my vision to modernise and develop our sport whilst remaining relevant and I am firmly committed to the integrity of the sport and further, that Ice Dance remains firmly embedded as an Olympic discipline.

“As an ISU Official, it will mean that I have to step down as President and Chairman of NISA, a position which has been a great privilege for me, but I remain as Performance Director maintaining my involvement with NISA and the National Team.”
