Mentor Torun Cup see GBR podium finish

The Mentor Torun Cup in Poland took place from Tuesday 8th to Sunday 13th January and saw seven GBR athletes competing in a multitude of skating categories. With excellent skating all-round, the GBR Senior Men pushed each other to higher standards, resulting in a podium finish. GBR Men's 2018 Senior Champion Graham Newberry put in two excellent skates to win a bronze medal, followed closely by GBR Men's Senior runner up, PJ Hallam taking a closely fought fourth place.

Both men put in strong starting performances in the Short Program with Graham earning a TSS of 63.34 and PJ less than a point behind on a TSS of 62.92 finished in 4th and 5th place. The Free Program opened the gap further between the compatriots with Graham earning a TSS of 123.36 and PJ a 116.09 (including 2.00 deductions). The Free Skate scores saw the men finish yet again in a consistent 4th and 5th place, ultimately resulting in Graham taking the Bronze medal with a total score of 186.70 and PJ taking 4th place with 179.01.

Also competing in Poland was Senior GBR lady, Nina Povey who finished overall in 7th place, Junior man Edward Appleby who finished overall in 15th, Junior Ice Dance Couple Rebecca Clarke and Theodore Alexander who finished overall in 18th out of 26 competitors and Intermediate Novice Ice Dance Couple Ashlie Slatter and Atl Ongay-Perez who finished just shy of bronze with a solid 4th place overall.
