Inspire Peterborough is pleased to announce a new programme of Inclusive Ice Skating in partnership with Planet Ice Peterborough.
The programme will enable families who have parents or children with disabilities, special needs, mental health problems, long term health conditions and learning disabilities to meet up weekly, learn new skills, have fun and to spend time together as a family as well as creating social interaction and networks. It has been funded by Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day Community Cash programme with support from the Cambridgeshire Community Foundation.
The sessions will start on Friday 5th June from 5.15pm to 6.15pm and run weekly until 18 March 2016, except public holidays when there will be no session. Cost only £2 per person which includes skate hire.
Inclusive Skating will include a family play session where toys will be available to encourage interaction and learning; a similar format to the popular Ice Tots session currently run by Planet Ice on Sunday mornings. Along with group lessons for those who would like to learn to skate and introducing ice hockey and/or sledge hockey. These sessions are aimed at adults and children aged 5 upwards and their families and carers.
