GB Short Track’s Younger Skaters Head to France for final ISU Star Class

Following a hugely successful row of events, including the ISU Star Class competition in Nottingham, Great Britain; eight of GB Short Track’s skaters are now in Albertville France for the final qualifier in a six-strong competition series.

The ISU Star Class, Albertville will run from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th February at the Halle Olympique ice rink and will see skaters from all over Western Europe compete for their spot in the Europa Cup Final in Budapest, Hungary next month.

Among the skaters, Great Britain will be represented by the squad’s younger ladies Kathryn Thomson, who claimed four medals at the Nottingham Star Class event in January, including overall gold in the Junior A/Senior Ladies age category, and Jennifer Pickering who finished in 6th place overall in the Junior A/Senior Ladies age category.

For the men, the competition will include Junior B skater Jonathan Moody who achieved his first international medal at Star Class Nottingham with silver in the 1000m, Junior A skater’s Jack Burrows and Aydin Djemal, and Senior Men Billy Simms, who claimed bronze at the Star Class Nottingham competition in the 1500M, Josh Cheetham and Farrell Treacy.
