GB Short Track Begin ISU World Cup Competition in Japan

This weekend, GB’s Short Track Speed Skating squad are competing in the third ISU World Cup Short Track Speed Skating event in Nagoya, Japan until Sunday 6th December.

The team, which consists of Elise Christie, Charlotte Gilmartin, Richard Shoebridge, Paul Stanley, Josh Cheetham, Murray Cochrane and Farrell Treacy, are currently in Japan having begun competition today. The skaters had returned home to train post the World Cups in Canada, but it was a quick turnaround and they are now back in Japan for the third competition in the World Cup series.

Having competed well in Canada last month and received a silver medal in the 1000m, Elise Christie was back on the ice today for the heats. Coming in with the fastest time, she qualified for the 500m and 1000m quarterfinals taking place over the weekend.

Alongside Christie, Charlotte Gilmartin qualified for the 1500m quarterfinal on Saturday, and Paul Stanley and Richard Shoebridge both qualified for the men’s 500m quarterfinal on Sunday.
