Buckland and Coomes take to the ice at Bavarian Open alongside 18 other GB skaters

Today is the first day of competition at the Bavarian Open figure skating competition in Oberstdorf, Germany. Among the international competitors will be elite ice dance couple Nicholas Buckland and Penny Coomes as well as 18 more of our very own GB skaters.

The five day competition which takes place from 17th to 21st February will include skaters across all disciplines of figure, ice dance and pairs from categories of Advanced Novice through to Senior.

This is Buckland and Coomes first appearance since the ISU European Championships in January where they secured their third personal best of the season. Skating here ahead of the ISU World Championships in March, this is the couple’s first time back at the Bavarian Open since 2013 when they took first place and gold.

Other skaters to compete this week include senior ice dance couple Richard Sharpe and Carter Jones, and current British champions Josh Brown, Emily Brown & James Hernandez, and Chloe Curtain & Steven Adcock.

Other skaters also include Charlie Parry-Evans, Karly Robertson, Sasha Fear & Jack Osman, Ekaterina Fedyuschenko & Lucas Kitteridge, and Mia Jowitt & Peter Beaumont.
